The Assistive Augmentation Perspective

We believe that wearable computing and intelligent user interface systems offer tremendous opportunities to revolutionize our daily interactions and achieve our personal life goals. However, today's user interfaces still often fail to meet the actual needs of users and are limited in their accessibility - especially for people with disabilities who rely on assistive technologies. We see the cause of this problem in the traditional view of technology as a separate tool.

We therefore advocate for a paradigm shift in the design of user interface systems, where technology is not seen as a separate tool, but as a seamless extension of the human body, mind and identity. We call this holistic approach to human enhancement “Assistive Augmentation” – characterized by the Assistive Augmentation principles.

Our Work

At Augmented Human Lab, we work on numerous projects, focusing on assistive technology, well-being, and learning. With our work, we aim to take on the Assistive Augmentation perspective by seamlessly enhancing perceptual, physical and cognitive abilities through following the assistive augmentation principles.
